(l to r) Jeremiah, Leon and Daniel
One of the greatest joys of my work is walking on a high school campus with passionate volunteers. This semester, God has blessed me with the opportunity to mentor and serve alongside two incredible young men—Daniel and Jeremiah—as we minister to students in the Sunnyside community.
I first met Daniel through his local church, where he serves as a youth worship leader. A former classroom teacher, Daniel has spent time working in construction and serving in the Army National Guard. As he prayerfully discerns his next career steps, he has been joining me on the campuses of Worthing High School and South Early College High School. Having the freedom to share his faith and listen to students’ spiritual journeys has been a deep encouragement to him. Please join me in praying for clarity as Daniel seeks the Lord’s direction—whether that means stepping into a new career or entering full-time vocational ministry.
My connection with Jeremiah began this past April at our Batho Pele Resource Center vision dinner, the founder representing a Christian camp organization asked me to meet his liaison in Houston. Desiring to learn more about our campus outreach, Jeremiah joined me at local high schools to observe our ministry approach and share his personal testimony with students. The school administrators and youth have been impacted by the presence and dedication of both Jeremiah and Daniel. It has been a privilege to minister with Daniel and Jeremiah this semester. Please pray that God gives me wisdom as I continue to disciple them and equip them for ministry leadership.
Looking ahead, we are also preparing to partner with the College of Biblical Studies to host student interns. Please pray for BPRC as we expand our capacity to reach underserved communities in Houston, equipping leaders and laboring to see these neighborhoods transformed into Great Commission communities.
Sincerely,
Leon Best
