Day Zero?! Day Zero, when the city’s water taps run dry will be June 4, 2018. This warning saturated the social media, TV and radio airwaves on are arrival into Cape Town. The idea of Day Zero was introduced by local government to alert everyone to the water crisis in the city. Day Zero helped everyone to focus on implementing the water restrictions of 50L of water per person, per day. It’s been a month and our family has adjusted to the rationing, by learning from friends how to reuse the ‘gray water’ from our sinks, showers and washing machine. My kids have enjoyed not taking baths daily. The citizens have responded well, and just recently local officials have shared the city will not face Day Zero in 2018 if they uphold to the water restrictions of 50L of water per person, per day.
Could you imagine if Jesus Christ gave us His Day Zero, the day He returns (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17). How would you prepare yourself, family and friends? There might be some frustration as we experienced learning the water rationing methods. Then you learn and understand that when many people work together, lots of water can be saved. My focus is to continue to share my faith and help people discover the Spirit-filled life.
Recently, I was with my team sharing the gospel at the University of Cape Town, and today my team is in the community of Eerste River training local pastors on how to reach their area through evangelism and discipleship.
We have now been in South Africa for a month. My resilient children are catching up in their school work but enjoying their new schools. I continue to thank God for what he has taught me during my extended stay in the US. Please continue to pray for us as we settle into the city and continue to raise up Christ-centered multiplying disciples.
