This month Campus Crusade for Christ – South Africa partnered with the Cape Town Baptist Seminary (CTBS). We began this relationship three years ago. CTBS asks their students to partner with local churches and ministries to go out in the mission field. We receive seven seminarians. The CTBS team leader, Bevin, wrote a report about his team’s experience with us.
“For many on the team Wednesday was the highlight of the week. We went to Stellenbosch University where we were involved in evangelising students. We had many good conversations with people, some of them being quite challenging as we encountered atheists, agnostics, believers, and backsliders.
On Thursday we went to CPUT campus in City centre. We encountered students here who were quite different to those we encountered at Stellenbosch University. Here we found many students struggling to balance their cultural beliefs with their call to follow Christ. Students were very open to talking about spiritual matters and we had one student deciding to accept Christ as saviour. This made our day.
Friday saw us getting up early again and on our way to Durbanville Baptist church. Here we lead a time of worship and prayer with the CCC team. Following this we spent time preparing for the evening program. On Friday evening we were on our way to Scottsdene in Kuilsriver to be part of an Awana ministry to children aged 7 – 13 years. We had a very blessed time as we shared the story of David and Goliath with them
Saturday was our final day with CCC. We spent the afternoon with Leon Best and his family, followed by an evening of ministry involving using the ‘Jesus movie’ as a tool to evangelise the people of Meltonrose Park in Eerste River. We saw 30 people making a commitment to follow Christ.”
